#longpost *** This is two years ago at #Bob2 where I hit 881 lbs 400 kegs again, also the second time I had attempted to break the all time world record when it was 915 lbs, I had also tried earlier that year at RUM8. Then the third time, I didn't get to attempt bc I missed second attempt of 903 and had to retake. It took almost 3 years to break a record that was within 4 % of max squat, then took another 1.5 years to hit a 19 lb squat PR and finally break the record. My point is simple, at least to me, anything worth having does not come overnight, is not earned without adversities and if you commit to yourself I guarantee you will surprise yourself! Real men create their own destiny. Don't doubt, DO! #rudyphilippus #QUADSLIKEROBB #qualityoverquantity #squatyourwaytoabetterlife #squatsomething

🤳 @blacksmifff ・・・ "Losing the part of my finger messed with my head for a number of reasons, but none was more devastating than the fact that it took away my chances at competing in the @CrossFitGames season this year and potentially in future years as well. Specifically I worried that I wouldn't be able to grip heavy weights or hold on in grip intensive WODs, and that the pain from breaking the finger would continue to affect my ability to catch heavy cleans without a ton of pain. Today at the was a big step forward for my confidence in my prospects of making #Games2022 a reality as I hit a 345# PR C+J and a legitimate no-hitch 590# deadlift. I'm nowhere near as good as I was or close to where I need to be, but I'm always up for some quantifiable proof that I'm moving in the right direction while training takes a back seat to deployment preparation. Onwards and upwards. #CrossFit #ChasingGreatness" #CrossFitGames

Today is the start of our next 4 week block - The focus is on improving the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. If you are still learning how to do these lifts well, your focus over the next 4 weeks is to complete as many sets and reps as possible without missing lifts. Our bodies are pretty clever and they learn quickly so practice doing things the right way - If you need help to break these things down and learn the right way then get in touch.

Repeating workouts

Why do we repeat workouts?

In the field of health measurable, repeatable, specific tests are how we objectively assess ourselves and patients. Whether that be through an eye exam assessing vision impairment, a blood test measuring specific nutrients, or through a standing broad jump measuring power.

For fitness enthusiasts, it is important for us to assess and reassess to decide whether our program is working? Are we closer to our goal now than before? Are we fitter? This program is designed with the goal of improving GPP – general physical preparedness. Short and long, light and heavy, 1 rep to 100 reps - improve them all. For us, our starting point isn’t as important as it is to be making progress. Whether you are an all-round athlete superstar or someone who is just beginning to embrace the idea of fitness, the important factor is making progress towards your goal. The only way to measure progress is to assess and reassess.

This brings us to todays workout – a repeat of the workout we did on 03/07/17 – a mere 2 weeks ago. What progress could you make in 2 weeks? Physically, some, but not a huge amount. But psychologically? There is much to be gained from dangling a carrot, having a score to chase and a time to beat or a training buddy to push you. Today is an exercise in the mental aspect of training as much as the physical benefit. Can you push a little more today? Did you really give it 100% and what can you do to make sure that you next time you are?

Saturday 08/07/17

Saturday 08/07/17

Alternating EMOM 30 minutes
Min 1. 25 Air squats
Min 2. 8 Burpee box jump overs
Min 3. Row or Bike 15/12 cal

each round is a maximum 30 seconds of work and no more, followed by 30 seconds of rest. If you do not complete a round in the 30 seconds then take away 1 rep on the next cycle through.

e.g

If the clock gets to 0:30 and you have only done 22 of your 25 squats, you will stop - next time you will aim to get 21 done in the 30 seconds. Continue to reduce reps throughout the workout if you still cannot complete the work in the 30 seconds.

Scaling for this workout is built in, after you complete 1 round of each movement you should aim to hold that number for the rest of the time.

Thursday 06/07/17

Deadlift
7 sets of 2 + 2.5kg from week 1

15 rounds
1 min row
30s rest
* Target is just faster than your 2km pace (1-2 sec faster)

To calculate your pace - take your 2km row time (roughly) and divide by 4.
for example if it takes me 7:00 for my 2km row, 7:00/4 = 1:45 per 500m

If you aren't sure how to read the monitor READ THIS - we are looking at pace per 500m

The goal is to maintain pace across the minute and across all rounds
